Our school offers over thirty different clubs and organizations for students to participate in.

Club Name: Art Club
Club Summary: Art Club participates in and puts on projects that are made to better the school through art. In the past they have created murals in the football locker room, at Harwood Elementary, and on the stadium. Each mural is a representation of student unity and strength. Art Club meets every Wednesday after school and during lunch, and anyone can join the club. This club teaches students leadership and creativity skills.

Business Professionals of America
Club Summary: Business Professionals of America is a club that helps high school students prepare for future careers in business professions. They spend the beginning of the year studying and preparing events for their regional competition. The events here include financing, graphic design, presentations, job interviewing, speeches, and other business-related topics. After regionals they can progress to state and nationals if they placed in an event. Anyone can join BPA, and meetings are Mondays during lunch. BPA can help students become more comfortable with public speaking, money handling, and business centered careers.

Dungeons and Dragons Club
Club Summary: Although people may only think of DnD as just a role play game, it can develop many different social qualities in students that are essential for everyday life. DnD club is an organization that helps identify social cues, become more imaginative, and connect with friends. Anyone is more then welcome to join, and they meet the first and third Thursday at lunch. There are also separate meetings that take four to six hours, that focus on larger and more elaborate campaigns. Each lunch meeting consists of four or five different groups, each with their own campaign and ideas. DnD is a fun club to fuel the students creative side and have a lot of fun with friends.

Club Name: Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)
Club Summary: FCCLA is a leadership-oriented club. They participate in activities centered around the family and consumer sciences. These could be in areas of nutrition and food, child development, family, fashion, and interior design. This helps students gain leadership skills, present themselves professionally, and grow their public speaking skills.

Club Name: Future Farmers of America
Club Summary: FFA is a leadership program that specializes in agriculture. They prepare for competitions that are agricultural, business, and technical related. They go through regionals, state, and nationals. Anyone can join this club, even if they are unfamiliar with agriculture. Currently the Rigby club has 200 members, but more are always welcome. Meetings are posted on their website, called at.com. You could also talk to the AG teachers or officers of the club.

Club Name: Future Hispanic Leaders of America
Cords/Awards/Lettering: none
Club Summary: Future Hispanic Leaders of America helps Hispanics to be successful not only in their high school career, but also future ones as well. Their meetings are Tuesdays at lunch. This club helps students to feel empowered and able to reach out and help others.

Club Name: Fuel Up to Play 360
Club Summary: Fuel Up to Play 60 is a club that sponsors being active and establishing healthy habits within the school. Meetings are unofficial but the adviser, Mrs. Erhardt, will let the students involved know when times are. During meetings they discuss healthy ways to live. The club does not have an official member list but anyone who wants to come can. This clubs helps students learn effective healthy habits to install into their day to day life.

Club Name: Gay Straight Alliance
Club Summary: GSA is a club that promotes acceptance and creates a safe place for students to truly be themselves; discrimination and judgment will never take place here. Students of both the LGBTQ+ community and students who identify as straight are welcome. GSA’s main purpose is to send the message to students that they are loved and valued by the student body, no matter their gender identity or sexual orientation. Although it may be difficult for some students to feel like they can be themselves, GSA is here to tell them they can, and help them embrace it. During their meetings they talk about student’s experiences, learn different gender and sexual identities, and how to respect everyone. Their activities are largely run by the students, and they meet twice a month at lunch.

Club Name: Jazz Band
Club Summary: Jazz band is a small, tight knit group of advanced band students that love to play jazz music. They help each other grow musically together and individually. Musical positions in this club include a bass, trumpets, and more. In order to join this class, the student needs to audition. There are both JV and Varsity options to be in. This is a 0-hour class, all three-tris. They participate in band concerts, educational trips, and jazz band festival. This class challenges students, but because of the small size students are able to belong and have a good group of friends.
 
Club Name: National Honors Society
Club Summary: National Honors Society is a service-oriented club that is for more advanced students, hoping to better the world. The students get to plan all activities, so it is student led and student oriented. Although this club is difficult to get into, it is laid back and not stressful for students that have a lot on their plate. In order to get into this club, the student must have a 3.5 GPA or higher, 2 letters of teacher recommendations, and write a small essay. Meetings are Thursdays at lunch. NHS helps students better connect with their community and make new friends.

Club Name: Robotics
Club Summary: Robotics is an engineering club in which the students design robots, to get them to a certain goal on a grid. There are obstacles and specific aspects of the robot that must comply with the competition requirements. Anyone can join this club, even as a freshman. Robotics has several competitions throughout the year, and they made it to nationals and placed there in 2019. They have meetings on Wednesdays after school. This club teaches important skills in programming, engineering, and critical thinking.

 
Club Name: Rotary
Club Summary: Rotary Interact is a service club that helps to better the community, and its residents. Some activities include cleaning highways, and a book drive. Members have also taken on international projects, such as letters to the military, and school supplies for children in third world countries. Meetings are Tuesdays before school, or at lunch, but previous members would recommend going before school since the club does consist of 60 to 80 members. Anyone can join this club. By joining this club students can earn cords and scholarships.

Club Name: Scholastic Bowl
Club Summary: Scholastic Bowl is a club that prepares for one event, a timed quiz in which a team of 5 answer as many education questions as they can. These questions can include geology, math, history, science, and other random categories. The main team includes five members, but they take turns and have back up members all with different skill sets that also can compete. After a few months of studying and practice, they start with several regional competitions where there are other schools present to compete against. Although these competitions are mainly just for fun, they prepare the club for their main competition which is held at University Place in Idaho Falls. Scholastic Bowl meets after school on Thursdays in Mrs. Predator’s room, starting second tri. 

Club Name: Science Olympiad
Club Summary: Science Olympiad is a competition-based club. There are several different events which are ranging from engineering, to ornithology. (Which is the study of birds). Some other examples include geologic mapping, experimental design, chemistry lab, and other science-themed events. Towards the end of April, they travel to BSU in Boise and compete in these events with many other schools. This is a state competition and to make it to nationals, the team must place first as a whole. To join you must be a sophomore and have taken physical science. If there is a freshman student that is determined to join, they can talk to Mrs. Fox (the adviser) and they will be considered for a spot on the team. The club has a specific class hour where the team can prepare for their events. This is usually second hour, second tri. If there are some students that cannot take the class, closer to the competition there will be after school meetings. 

Club Name: Skills USA
Club Summary: Skills USA is a club designed to help increase technical skills in students. They have several competitions where there are stations on diagnosis, electrical diagrams, fixing the vehicle, and more. They also have the option to go to SEMA, which is a car show that takes place in the fall of each year in Las Vegas. Students can join if they are involved in the level three automotive class, so their meetings take place in class. This club helps students widen their knowledge of automotive vehicles and learn life-long skills. 

Club Name: Speech and Debate
Trips/Competitions/Training Held: Regional, State, National Competitions
Who Can Join: Must have taken one of Mr. Soundrup’s Classe
Club Summary: Speech and Debate is a club where students prepare for certain events in debate, and then compete with their case at competitions. There are a many regional competitions, and then the students can progress to state and nationals. In 2019 Debate made it to nationals and placed there as well. There is a debate class second tri, and separate meetings on Wednesdays. Students can join is they have taken one of Mr. Soundrup’s classes before.

Club Name: Student Council
Club Summary: Student Council is a group of students that work together to produce fun activities for the student body. Some of the activities that they plan include dances, assemblies, blood drives, renaissance, parades, the talent show, student acceptance activities, and holiday themed activities. This is a three-tri class that is 0 hour, but there are some mandatory meeting during the summer to prepare for the upcoming year. To get into this club the student must fill out an election form and go from there. For a complete list of positions contact Holly Mickelsen. If contested for a certain position, they will need to make a video and hang up posters. There are no speeches. Student council has a training camp each year, called stucco state where they go to Boise and learn more about leadership. This club is great for college applications and will teach essential leadership qualities.

Club Name: Table Tennis Club
Club Summary: The Table Tennis Club prides themselves in bonding the school through ping pong. They meet everyday during lunch, but sometimes after or before school if some members are really serious about strengthening their ping pong skills. The meetings are a fun place to bond and play ping pong with a supportive group of friends. So far there has been one tournament, which had the participation of more than 70 people and different schools. Anyone one can join this club. Table Tennis Club consists of a diverse group of the student body, that are brought together and united by their mutual love, of ping pong.
 
Club Name: Thespians
Club Summary: Thespians is an advanced acting organization that provides opportunities for theater students to pursue a theater-related career. In order to become a part of this club, you need a certain number of hours either acting, building a set, or doing tech for shows. Then you pay a fee of $35 and you can receive a pin, and cord at graduation. Thespians has a state and national competition. The events include anything from musical advertising, to a serious ensemble piece. There are not meetings for thespians, but the members that are in the Troyplayers class are mostly all thespians, so a student could talk to them  to become a member. Thespians helps students grow as actors and tech be offering critical feedback and tips for pursuing their acting career. 
 
Club Name: Troylairs
Club Summary: Troylairs is a class where students learn more about music theory, and advanced singing. They also learn how to sing as a group, and study technique. Troylairs participates in choir concerts, Music in the Park, and other trips to widen their knowledge of music. Troylairs is a three-tri class. To get into Troylairs, the student has to audition the year before. This club helps strengthen musical ability, and technique.
 
Club Name: Troyplayers
Club Summary: Troyplayers a crazy, fun family that works together to achieve their theater goals. Professionally known as a group of advanced actors, Troyplayers is a club that also includes advanced tech, stagecraft, and design students. In order to join, the student must have taken acting 1, or stagecraft. Then they audition at the end of the year for a spot. Freshmen cannot join until their sophomore year. There is a three-tri class for this club where students learn acting technique or strengthen their knowledge in the tech areas. Troyplayers puts on the fall play and showcase in spring. They have one competition called drama regionals. There is a variety of events for this, and some include stage design, makeup design, musical ensemble, acting serious, acting original, and so many more for each student skill set. If the student makes it to first or second place, they then get to go to drama state and compete. Even if students are not interested in going into a theater related career after school, the club still helps in skills of memorization, public speaking, and creative abilities.  

Club Name: Water Polo
Club Summary: Water Polo is a club that has fun in the water, playing water polo. Since water polo is still a new idea in this region of Idaho, there are not many others to play with, so they only have one or two tournaments per year. This club is mostly for fun and to bond as a team. Anyone can join, but they should have some swimming experience for safety reasons. They meet on Mondays to discuss strategies, then practice on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays after school at the aquatic center in Idaho Falls.

Club Name: Yearbook
Club Summary: Yearbook is a club that designs and make the yearbook for each school year. As a team they make the pages from scratch, tag every picture, take the pictures, write each story. Afterwards each page goes up through a system of proofreaders and editors to make it fit for the final print. In order to join, the student must fill out an application and apply for the position. They have a three-tri class that’s third hour that is mandatory to be in. Every summer they have a training in Utah for all the members to prepare them for the upcoming year. This club teaches patience, design, and writing skills to the members.


Club Name: Hope Squad
Cords/Awards/Lettering: Cords
Club Summary: Hope Squad is a peer-to-peer suicide prevention program. Hope Squad members are nominated by their classmates as trustworthy peers and trained by advisors. The program reduces youth suicide through education, training, and peer intervention.
